Saying Goodbye

One of the best, and hardest, aspects of college ministry is saying goodbye to graduates. The investment of your time and resources in them means you are usually losing your best leaders. The investment of yourself in them means you are often losing friends. Yet, I realize we are sending students out, well equipped to serve God and love others. Knowing God will continue His work in and through them, we send them out in all encouragement and expectation of their success.

This year we did something near here at PITT, holding a RUF Banquet to celebrate those who are graduating. We ate well, sang our favorite songs together, and heard graduates share their stories of God's faithfulness to them. Then, their close friends prayed for them and their futures. It was a moving, encouraging, wonderful evening, and a great reminder what a great job we have here in RUF.
