Experiencing the Love of Jesus

“I’m not a Christian… but I would like to join one of your Bible studies.”
That was about the fifth line out of "Maggie’s" mouth when we met and sat down for my first student meeting of the semester back in September. Maggie is a freshman at Columbia, and she heard about RUF from one of my students, Sam, who was her pre-orientation program leader. Interactions like that are always encouraging to a campus minister (God is at work, we don’t labor in vain!), but particularly so after a long summer of praying and planning, waiting for students to return, and hoping to connect with these young men and women in order to share the hope of the gospel with them.
Since then, Maggie, Sam, and a number of other students have come out to RUF welcome events, are meeting with me 1-on-1, and are getting connected and organized into Bible studies as we continue to develop a vibrant community of grace here on Columbia’s campus. It is such a joy to tell these students- for the 1st time or the 1000th time- about the love of Jesus, and to invite them to experience and live that out in community with one another!
