Christmas Joy

All my heart this night rejoices,
As I hear, far and near, sweetest angel voices;
“Christ is born,” their choirs are singing,
Till the air, everywhere, now their joy is ringing.

I write this note at night, listening to one of my favorite Christmas CDs. Paul Gerhardt's words are fitting, if we consider that the choir on the CD is angelic in its message. My heart rejoices indeed for the coming of Christ - to save me, my family, and the whole world. A later verse goes thus:

Forth today the Conqueror goeth,
Who the foe, sin and woe, death and hell, o’erthroweth.
God is man, man to deliver;
His dear Son now is one with our blood forever.

- a great reminder that Jesus came to fight a mighty battle, to win, and to rescue us from sin and Satan. And this is the message we proclaim on college and university campuses. God became man to save us, and now He calls all into His Kingdom.
