SuCo Recap – Boston University

RUF at Boston University returned from Summer Conference (SuCo) with full hearts from a week of encouragement and conviction from the Word, new and deepened friendships, and maybe a little sunburn. There is so much to share from the week, but I want you to hear it from one of our students.

“I came into Summer Conference not really sure if I believed in God and the Bible, and I left the conference utterly convinced that He is there for me at my best, yes, but most especially at my worst. Jesus is there to support me in my times of failure and weakness, and I can lean on Him for strength. His love for me is unconditional, and I am still wrapping my head around this. I also learned that my purpose in life, first and foremost, is to glorify Him. At hearing this, I felt a shift in my very being – it is hard to describe, but the worries of the world aren’t as hard when you realize that living a simple, happy, Christian life supersedes things like the next big test, squabbles between friends and family, etc.

BU SUCO 4

A little background: this student came to BU as an agnostic with a mother who formerly was a Jehovah’s Witness and an atheist father. RUF met her during fall outreach and invited to our seeker book discussion on Reason for God by Tim Keller. She was one of our most faithful and engaged participants. Our female intern met regularly with her as she worked through her questions, particularly wrestling with the idea of a personal relationship with God. She now has a Bible of her own and is eagerly being discipled in her new faith.
